Ellen Marie Kueter

Ellen Marie (Christensen) Kueter, formerly of Liberty, Missouri passed away on March 2nd, 2022, at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Excelsior Springs, Missouri at the age of 79.

Ellen was the youngest child of Henry and Marie Christensen, born August 23, 1942. She attended elementary school in Audubon County and graduated from Audubon High School in 1960. After graduation she remained living on the family farm in Audubon, working locally for a few years until she moved to Des Moines, Iowa.

Ellen met and married Gary Kueter in 1966; having her first child Christopher in 1967. For a short time the family was stationed in Rhode Island until they settled in Urbandale, Iowa. Her only daughter Dana was born in 1970 and she saved the best for last with Ryan in 1975. Ellen remained a full time stay at home mother raising her children. Ellen opened her home and heart to many children running an at home day care for many years. After closing her home day care she worked at a dry cleaner for a few years before working at a day care with her close friend where she was loved and adored by all her little ones. She moved to Liberty, Missouri in 2000 and worked at Liberty Hospital in the cafeteria where everyone knew her name and again was loved by all. She retired in 2014.

Ellen’s pride and joys were her children and her grandchildren. Recently she found out she would become a great grandmother in the Fall of 2022.

She loved to cook and bake for her family; often sending home many baked goods and leftovers for later. Traveling and camping in her younger years brought her joy. In her later years she enjoyed playing bingo, word puzzles and visits with the family. She was still quick to remind you to bring her a treat (lemon drops) and or Diet Pepsi during a visit.

She is survived by her daughter, Dana (Craig) Bishton and son, Ryan Kueter. She was dearly loved by her grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Waters, Collin Bishton, Noah Kueter, Mary Kueter, Benjamin Kueter, Megan Bishton and Luke Kueter. She also leaves her sister, Irene (Gary) Jacobsen; nieces and nephews, Doug Christensen, Jana Bauman, Sharla (Lou) Decker, Derek (Laura) Jacobsen, Steve (Lori )Jacobsen. Additional family members include Gary Kueter, Deana Kueter, Valerie Kueter; as well as many cousins and lifelong friends.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marie Christensen; an infant brother; her brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Nadine Christensen; her niece, Julie Christensen and most recently her beloved son, Christopher Kueter.

Dana and Ryan would like to thank Valley Manor Nursing Home and Three Rivers Hospice for their loving care during Mom's final days.

Services will be held March 14th at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 N Rte 291, Liberty, Missouri. Visitation at 10:00, with funeral immediately following at 11:00. Burial will be March 15, at 1:00 in Audubon, Iowa at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Should you desire, memorial contributions may be given directly to the family and will be allocated to the grandchildren’s continuing education.
