Larry Eugene Taylor, 81, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on August 19, 2024, from heart failure.
Larry was born on July 28, 1943 to Edson M. Taylor and Alta B. Taylor in Vallejo, California. After moving to the Kansas City area, he graduated from East High School in 1961. After high school, Larry took his painting apprenticeship from A.T. Switzer. In 1970, Larry married Stephanie L. (Dethloff) Taylor, after meeting his wife of 53 years at Englewood Assembly of God. After his apprenticeship, Larry worked for UMKC, Panhandle Eastern, Yellow Freight, and Rockhurst University. He retired from Rockhurst in 2017. He had a love of Corvettes and owned several during his life time. Larry will be remembered mostly for his storytelling talent, love of hot dogs, and hatred of onions! Larry and Stephanie had one child, Megan Ashley (Taylor) Krstic, and she was the apple of his eye!! His favorite retirement pastime was sitting on the bench watching his grandsons develop their basketball skills. He will be missed not only by family but by many very close friends who had endeared themselves to him.
Larry was predeceased by his father, Edson M. Taylor and mother, Alta B. Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie L. Taylor and daughter, Megan A. Krstic (Petar), his brother Ronald Taylor, and his sister Elizabeth Dowell. Also, he is survived by his two much loved grandsons, Stefan Krstic and Luka Krstic, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, of which he had great affection.
Memorial Service will be held at Pebble Creek Assembly of God at 13800 East 51st Street South, KCMO 64133, at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. There will be a private graveside service for family at Park Lawn at 8251 Hillcrest Road, KCMO 64138, at 1:30 pm on September 4, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family feels that Larry would have appreciated more that donations be made to his grandsons college funds. Donations can be made in the form of a check, written out to Charles Schwab, Inc. for the benefit of Luka Krstic or Stefan Krstic and mailed to FAS Wealth Partners, Inc. at 4747 W. 135th Street, Leawood, KS 66224.
