Lawrence Vaughn, Jr.

Lawrence Vaughn, Jr., 77, passed away October 18, 2023.  

Lawrence Vaughn, Jr. was born in Omaha, Nebraska on August 28, 1946 to Lawrence Vaughn, Sr. and Dorian Johnny Wise. Larry grew up with three sisters and one brother. Larry’s father, mother, two sisters and brother preceded him in death.

Larry attended Wayne High School and he was a straight A student. Larry also attended Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska 1976 taking Accounting classes with a GPA of 3.0000.

Larry joined the United States Army on October 18, 1967. He served overseas in the Vietnam war. He left the Army with an Honorable Discharge.

Larry took a job in Denver, Colorado and this is where he met Doris who was visiting a friend. They had a long-distance relationship until Larry moved to Grandview, Missouri.  Larry and Doris were married on June 19, 1987.

Larry worked for Alliant Tech Systems, Inc. and U.S. Toy Co.

Larry was a quiet person with a kind spirit, and he was a smooth dresser. He loved his tennis shoes.

Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Doris Vaughn for over 40 years, daughter Monique Moore of Omaha, Nebraska, sons: Marquez (Sheetal) Minor of Denver, Colorado and Michael (Carla) Basey of Kansas City, Missouri, Paris Basey of Atlanta, Georgia, sister Patricia Coles of Lincoln, Nebraska, sister in law Barbara Vaughn of Omaha, Nebraska, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorial services will be 1PM, Thursday, November 16 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
