Evelyn Virginia Lewis

Evelyn Virginia Lewis, age 90, died in her home on January 23, 2020. She was born on February 24, 1929 at St Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri to William Corydon Edwards and Barbara Laureen Becker-Edwards-Carpenter-Dunscomb. Eve grew up in Moberly, Missouri and graduated from Moberly High School in 1947. She then attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles before graduating from Missouri University in 1953. Eve married and settled in Kansas City, Missouri as a school teacher for 50 years. Eve was married to Don Eugene Lewis on December 18, 1953; they were happily married for 52 years. Eve taught Sunday School for over 65 years at Northwest Bible Church.

Eve’s love for teaching led her to teach Good News Club from her home for over 20 years, Ladies’ Bible Class, vacation bible school, and private piano and voice lessons. She was the Choir Director at Avondale Methodist Church and a soloist performer at many events. Eve was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and taught swimming aerobics classes for several years at Wexford Place.

Eve was preceded in death by her spouse, Don Lewis.

Eve is survived by her sister, Carol (John) Giesler; daughter, Debra (Kevin) Martin; grandchildren Virginia Martin, Lewis (Emily) Martin, Don (Gina) Martin, Joseph (Michaeline) Martin, Philip Martin, Scott Martin; and great grandchild Carmella Martin.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 1, at Northwest Bible Church, 6520 NW 64th Street, Kansas City, MO. Private burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Liberty.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Northwest Bible Church. 6520 NW 64th St. Kansas City, MO 64151.
