Lynda L Halteman

Lynda L. (Lambert) Halteman, 79, of the Kansas City Northland, passed peacefully on May 18, 2023, surrounded by family. 

Lynda was born August 25, 1943, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the only child of Lynn and Catherine (Canaday) Lambert. Her father served in the US Air Force and the family moved several times before settling in the Kansas City area. Lynda graduated from Paseo High School. She was married to Ken Halteman in 1962 and they are blessed with two daughters and a granddaughter.  Though no longer married, they continued to be lifelong friends. Lynda’s career with the Gas Service Company spanned 25+ years before retiring as a Customer Service Supervisor. 

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Jeff Childress, and Becky and Bryan Abts; and her granddaughter, Shelby Abts; as well as other family and friends. 

Lynda’s happy place was the Lake of the Ozarks where she purchased a home so family and friends could enjoy time together.  She was an avid reader and loved the Chiefs, Royals and car racing.  Shelby was her pride and they enjoyed taking trips to Branson together. 

 The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for all their help and support. 

Per Lynda’s request, there will be no formal service.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
