Linda Lucas was born Linda Sue Wesley on August 20, 1957, in Kansas City, KS to the late James Wesley Sr and Gladys Wesley. She was the eighth of ten children. She received her education in Kansas City Mo, graduating from Southeast H.S. in 1975, and attended Northwest Missouri State College from 1975 to 1977. In 1988 she met her now husband Richard C. Lucas Jr. through her best friend, and a co-worker of Richard, the late Stephanie Collins. They were introduced over lunch at a popular restaurant called “A Street Car Named Desire” formerly in Crown Center, and they were married on October 14, 1989, some eleven months after their meeting. To this union were born Richard C. Lucas III and LiRissa S. Lucas. On March 26, 2025, Linda was summoned by God and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as she was surrounded in her home by loving family members.

Linda’s life was full of gladness and service as she gave her life to the Lord and His service. Growing up she was like a sister/mother to her nieces and nephews, as well as her siblings. Some called her the most loving disciplinarian they ever had the privilege of knowing. In adulthood she was a tireless worker working at times for Union Pacific Railroad, the Kansas City Police Dept, The Gas Company, Hunkeler Eye Centre, The IRS, The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, and she ultimately retired after years of service from New Life in Christ International Ministries and Life-A-New Preparatory Academy. Her love was for her husband, family and her church as she worked with the Youth Ministry, the Choir, Trophies of Grace, and the Finance Ministry.

Linda is preceded in death by her father, James Wesley Sr., her mother Gladys Wesley Robinson, her sisters Kathleen Collins (Walter), and Constance M. Anderson (Leo). Left to mourn and cherish her memories, her husband, Richard C. Lucas Jr., her children Richard C. Lucas III, LiRissa S. Lucas, April Cobbins (Darron), Shaundra Jones, and her beloved grandchildren Aurora Lucas, Naomi Jones, Cathryn Jones, and Michael Jones. Her siblings, James Wesley Jr., Keith Wesley Sr. (Lisa), Jeffery Wesley (Carmen), Gailya Wesley, Michael Wesley Sr. (Rhonda), Monya Motley, Rudolph Wesley Sr. (Cynthia), as well a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
