Rex Lloyd, age 92, passed away October 8, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Rex was a World War II era veteran who served in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. After his discharge from the Army, he and his wife, Freda, returned to Le Flore County, Oklahoma. Several moves and three children later, Rex and Freda moved to Kansas City, Mo., settling in Independence, Mo., in 1956. Their fourth child was born soon after.
Rex retired from Kansas City Iron Workers Local #10. Different projects took him across the United States and to Costa Rica. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Lloyd, who passed away in 2010.
Rex is survived by his wife of nearly 72 years, Freda Lloyd; children and their spouses: Starlin and Ray Cave; Clayton and Susie Lloyd; and Carter and Sandy Lloyd; grandchildren: Brian Lloyd; Tony and Echo Lloyd; Jenny Cave; and Maddie and John Kamphaus; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Mia, Kelsey, Kace, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Emerson, Thoren and Quinn; and great-great-grandson, Xander.
Friends are invited to pay their respects Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, where Rex will lie in state from 11:00am - 3:00pm.
Graveside committal services with full military honors will be 11:30am, Monday, October 15, at Swan Lake Memorial Park, 30000 Valor Drive, Grain Valley, MO 64029.
