Lu Anne Maggard

October 21, 1956 — June 23, 2023

Lee's Summit, Missouri

LuAnne Maggard passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday June 23, 2023, at the age of 66 surrounded by her husband and her girls at her home in Lee’s Summit, MO.

LuAnne was born October 21, 1956, to J.E and Jean Williams in Raytown, MO. After graduating from Raytown South Highschool, she went on to get her LPN and began her beautiful career as the incredible caregiver that most of us knew her as.

She married her fella in 1977. They had known each other since the 4th grade. Their first daughter Amber was born 3 years into their marriage, and sweet squishy Mariesa came 2 years after that. Momma spent a lot of her time with her girls as well as everybody else’s kids. She directed youth groups, went to church camps, and there were ALWAYS kids from one place or another after they moved into the house with the pool! She loved every minute of it, and she loved every one of those kids like they were own. LuAnne was known as second momma to countless amounts of kids born from the 1970s to the mid-1980s and everywhere from Springfield to Oklahoma and especially Lee’s Summit.

She went back to school when her girls got into the late years of elementary school and began her work in the ICU at Research Medical Center. She served the medical community in critical care and administration for the next 20 plus years.

Luanne is survived by the unquestionable love of her life, David Maggard, her oldest daughter Amber and grandbabies Serrena (23), Liam (18), her youngest daughter Mariesa and grandbabies Myles (17), and Vivyan (16), as well as a whole bunch of step grandbabies. She leaves them all in the precious care of her sons-in law Ray Rosenberger and Jay Truelove.  She is survived by her beautiful and devoted sister Christy and her loving husband Earl as well as their girls Rachel, Rebekah, and Corissa and all their children. She leaves behind her incredible great nephew Dylan Williams and her nieces Lisa, Stacey, Nikki, and Becky and their families as well as her nieces and nephews Prisca, Pricilla, Ray, Cody and Tyler and her wonderful mother-in-law Juanita.

The only thing LuAnne loved more than her family and the surrogate kids she had over the years, was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Because of this love and her unwavering faith, she was preceded in death and now has rejoined her momma and daddy, Jean and J.E. Williams, her brothers Jim, Danny, and Mike, her fun and sassy niece Stephanie, and her most precious little bitty angel grandbaby, Sylas.

LuAnne will have a visitation at First Baptist of Lee’s Summit at 10am followed by a celebration of life and a luncheon in the basement of the church on Friday June 30, 2023. We invite you to celebrate in remembering what a legacy LuAnne leaves for this world, while she is rejoicing in perfection in her new one.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, June 30, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit, 2 NE Douglas Street, Lee's Summit, Missouri 64063. A visitation will preceded the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the church.
