Howard N. Marlow

Howard Nelson Marlow, 93, of the Kansas City Northland, passed away November 22, 2018, at Excelsior Springs Health Center. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a service celebrating Howard's life at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, November 27, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial in Glenridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Alpha Masonic Lodge in North Kansas City, MO.

Howard was born October 16, 1925, in Lockwood, MO, the youngest of eleven children of Joseph William and Gertie Mabel (Polston) Marlow. His parents and ten siblings preceded him in death. Following high school, Howard served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Merchant Marines from November 13, 1943 until receiving honorable discharge on November 26, 1946. He met the love of his life, Helen Margaret Richmond in Liberal, MO, and they were united in marriage on January 12, 1948. They moved to Kansas City, where Howard worked as a mechanic on city buses. He later was employed at Woods Industries, later United Transport, for 48 years.

Howard loved people and helping in any way. He was chosen Kindest Kansas Citian by the Kansas City School District. He was a 50-year member of Alpha Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and Ararat Shrine Temple. He was also a Past Patron of Alpha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Most importantly, Howard was a Christian and had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Helen; children, Joseph Marlow, Susan Beck (Tom), Kathy Andrews (Millard) and Patrick Marlow (Charlene); eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a twelfth on the way, seven great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will miss him greatly.

Service Information:

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a service celebrating Howard’s life at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, November 27, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial in Glenridge Cemetery.
