Gary Lynn Martin of Lee's Summit, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Lee's Summit Medical Center with his family present.
Gary was born March 12, 1976 to Norman & Patricia Martin, the youngest of five children. Gary grew up and went to school in the Independence, Missouri area.
In September 1999 met Jamie Miller in Grain Valley and the two were then united in marriage in September 2000. To this union was born a daughter, Haedyn (19) and son Jacob (15).
Gary had a great love of spending with all his family. With his little family of four it was generally some sort of outdoor event or something with the sports they were involved in. He also had a great love for automobiles of all makes, models and years. His love for the automotive world led to an adulthood of working in the automotive industry from detailing cars, selling cars, selling aftermarket parts and eventually to the body shop where he has been an estimator and a manager over the years.
Gary and his family spent many hours fishing and going to car shows. He would often combine love of the outdoors and cars for afternoon drives to nowhere in particular.
Gary spent several years coaching his daughter Haedyn in softball. He enjoyed those years and had an amazing way of teaching her and many young ladies. Haedyn has developed his love for cars and that led to them working together in the body shops for most of the last year. The hours they spent commuting to and from work was able to allow their bond to strengthen.
When Jacob got serious about baseball, Gary stepped back from coaching and became one of those dad's who coached from the other side of the fence. He has enjoyed watching Jacob develop as a player. He was every bit as excited as Jacob about the high school team Jacob recently accepted an offer from and was looking forward to seeing what the future would bring. Jacob has decided to wear the number (83, August 3rd) in honor of his father.
Gary and Jamie recently purchased a Jeep and joined the Midwest Krawlers offroad club. They have made many friends and enjoyed many social events, cruise nights and going wheeling with their Jeep Peeps.
Gary is survived by his wife of nearly 21 years, Jamie; children Haedyn and Jacob all of the home. Also surviving are his father Norman; sisters Jerri, Norma (David) and Patty (David) 5 nephews, 3 nieces, 10 great nephews, 4 great nieces as well as several other family members and many friends.
