Martin, Jo Lynn

July 30, 1947 — September 29, 2022

Jo Lynn (Mudd) Martin, 75, of Liberty, MO was surrounded by her family when she went home to Jesus after a devastating battle with ALS on September 29, 2022.

She was born on July 30, 1947 to Mary Ellen (Culley) and James Ryland Mudd in Kansas City, Missouri. Jo Lynn graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1965. She worked as a devoted office secretary and advocate for the Steelworkers Union Local 13 for 48 years.

Jo Lynn married Michael Martin on May 16, 1975. Her pride and joy was their two children Matthew and Molly. They enjoyed vacations to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Maryland to see family.

Jo Lynn lived her life for the Lord and to serve other people. She gleefully hosted every family holiday and loved preparing the perfect meal for everyone. Jo Lynn adored her grandchildren Zachary, Jacob, Ben, Kate and Gigi. She knew everything about them, from their favorite meal to their best friend. She would do anything for her grandkids and she loved each of them unconditionally. Jo Lynn had numerous friends from a variety of places. She took up quilting later in life and spent countless hours creating the perfect masterpieces for her loved ones. Everyone she met felt her joy and zest for life. She was dealt a very miserable diagnosis of bulbar onset ALS, yet never complained, kept her hope in Jesus and continued to live while she was able.

Jo Lynn is survived by her loving husband, Michael Martin of Liberty, MO; two children Matthew Eric Player of Liberty, MO and Molly Elizabeth Taylor (Jake Taylor) of Ashland, MO; five grandchildren Zachary and Jacob Player of Liberty, MO, Ben, Kate and Gigi Taylor of Ashland, MO; along with two adored siblings Marcia Ellen VanVelzen and Bradley Allen Mudd both of Independence, MO; nieces Jennifer Jo Van Velzen of Independence, MO and Katie Briggs of Gilbert, AZ; nephew James Ryland Mudd (Ashley Mudd) of Independence, MO; countless cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
