Travis Martin

Travis Martin, age 92, passed away October 4, 2019. He was born on August 14, 1927, to Roy and Mary (Netter) Martin in Grain Valley, MO. He graduated William Chrisman High School in 1945. Travis then served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1947. He had a long career as a masonry contractor. He was a pilot and instructor of light aircraft, and enjoyed riding motorcycles. Travis often scuba dived at Lake of the Ozarks before that location became as well known as it is today.

Travis was a member of American Legion Post 21, Moose Lodge 2414, Fraternal Order of Eagles 3717, Ararat Shrine and Masonic Lodge. Travis served as a president and officer of the Moose Lodge and FOE.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty P. Ficht, in August of 1984, after 35 years of marriage and a son, Louie Barbosa.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Candelaria “Lala” Barbosa Martin; children and their spouses: Travis and Jane Martin Jr., Terrie and Tim Denzer, Christine and Greg Atchley, Susan Barbosa; grandchildren: Ryan Martin, Andrea Martin, Evan Neer, Jeff Neer, Adam Neer, Thad Denzer, Jim Campbell, Jessica Atchley, Joseph Barbosa, Michael Barbosa; and twenty great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Park Lawn Funeral Home. Family will receive friends beginning at 9:30am. Committal service will follow at Lobb Cemetery in Blue Springs, MO.
