Mary Genneva (Hendren) Middaugh, 86, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on December 19, 2024 in Richmond, Missouri. She was born November 28, 1938, in Sturgeon, Boone County, Missouri, to James and Etta Pearl (Sickles) Hendren.
On August 12, 1956, at the age of 17, Mary married Robert Lee Middaugh, in Kansas City, Missouri. Their loving union lasted 53 years until his passing in 2010. Together they raised four children (Robert, Ronnie, Barb, Nikki) and later devoted their golden years to raising their grandson Robbie (Robert Middaugh II) as their own son.
From an early age, Mary demonstrated remarkable responsibility and work ethic, beginning her first job at A&W Root Beer as a carhop at age 14 to help support her family. Her career later included positions at Montgomery Ward & Co., Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, and various clerical roles. However, her greatest joy was being a devoted mother and grandmother.
A woman of strong faith, Mary was baptized at St Paul’s Church of the Nazarene on April 20, 2003. She dedicated many years to her church, volunteering for youth mission trips and annual garage sales for her grandson Robbie. Mary took great pride in her Cherokee heritage and was an avid collector of Native American artifacts. She found joy in crocheting, diamond art, and playing computer games in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Middaugh; mother Etta Pearl Sickles; father James Henry Hendren; brother Richard Hendren; and sisters Darlene Pillmore and Bonnie Hendren (in infancy); grandson Jacob Middaugh (in infancy). Mary is survived by her children: Robert (Vicki) Middaugh of Lee's Summit, Barb Middaugh (David Rolen) of Lee's Summit, Ronnie (Linda) Middaugh of Collins, and Nikki Middaugh of Richmond, MO; fifteen grandchildren: Chris Middaugh, Shaun Middaugh, Kyle Middaugh, Kaira Middaugh, Misty Middaugh, Robert (Robbie) Middaugh, Cole Knopp, Danielle Middaugh, Leland Middaugh, Abby Rolen, Natalie Rolen, Ben Rolen, Cassie Stuart, Nicole Stuart; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
