Marylou (Gann) Campbell, 76, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, surrounded by the love of family.
Born on January 30, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, Marylou was the daughter of Robert and Elsie (Matthys) Gann. A proud graduate of Saint Pius X High School, Marylou embarked on a remarkable career with the North Kansas City Police Department, where she dedicated over 40 years of service. Starting as an administrative assistant, her unwavering commitment and skill led her to become the trusted secretary to the Chief of Police—a role she carried out with grace and professionalism.
In her twenties, Marylou married Phil Campbell. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories until Phil’s passing in 1999. They were blessed with a daughter, Courtney, who brought endless joy to their lives.
Marylou will be remembered for her kind, gentle spirit and endless patience. She formed deep, lasting friendships that began in high school and continued to flourish throughout her life. She also embraced new connections, enriching her world with warmth and camaraderie.
An avid bowler and skilled crocheter, Marylou had a passion for gardening, often finding peace and happiness among her flowers. She especially loved her monthly game days, a time to share laughter and create more special memories with those she held dear.
Marylou's legacy of love and kindness lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elsie Gann; her husband Phil Campbell; her daughter Courtney Campbell Robbins and her brother Robert Gann, Jr.
Marylou is survived by her special friend Milton Ladd; granddaughter Alexa Robbins; step daughter Sharilynn Duncan (Art) and their children, Becket (Devon) and Bellamy (Ian); sister Gloria Silvers (Duane); her beloved three nieces and three nephews and close knit extended family.
A Memorial Gathering is scheduled for Monday, December 16 from 1-3:00 PM at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 N State Route 291, Liberty, MO 64068. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marylou's life.
