Donna M. Mashek

Donna M (Wandrie) Mashek age 87 of Kansas City, passed away on Wednesday June 2, 2021, at Saint Lukes Hospice House.

Donna was born on May 2, 1934 in Becker County, Minnesota. She has lived in numerous cities and towns across Minnesota. Donna has tried her hand at many different vocation, including waitress, factory line work, building houses, teacher and teacher aid, but her most memorial was raising her family. Donna enjoyed gardening crafts, such as quilting, crocheting, sewing clothes, and reading. She also loved to telling stories from her life, like when she for the rail line as a cook and baker with her husband Barney, or when she was a carhop on roller skates in the winter. She talked about helping her father build a home, or when he took her out dancing when she was 16, and her mother would not let her back into the house that night. Another time when she made a fire stop around the family home, and tipping the tractor in to the ditch.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband Barney Smith, her parents Robert and Doris Wandrie, and her brother Leslie Wandrie. She leaves behind six children Betty Jean Smith (Mpls, MN) Bernie (Becky) Smith (Grand Isle, MN), Brenda (Scottie) Schermerhorn (Detroit Lakes, MN), Keith (Linda) Smith (Kansas City, MO), Melissa (Bryan) Walburn ( Kansas City, MO) and Karla Jamie (Prosser, WA). 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren an 4 great great grandchildren, along with 3 brothers Carl (Jeanie) Wandrie, Roger (Tianna) Wandrie, and Gary Wandrie, 2 sisters Lucille Bolin and Gladys Wandrie.

Visitation will be on Monday June 7, 2021, from 6 to 8 pm at Park Lawn Funeral Home on 8251 Hillcrest Rd, KC MO 64138. Funeral Services will be Tuesday June 8, 2021, at 1:30 pm at Calvary Lutheran Church on 75th and Oak streets in Kansas City, Mo, with burial to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions maybe made to LWML at Calvary Lutheran Church.
