Lang Sr. Maurice

Maurice Lang, Sr. was born to Marceline Lang and Theo Lang Sr. on December 23, 1958 in Kansas City, KS. He was number 7 of 10 children.

He graduated from Westport High School in 1977. An athlete and a scholar, Maurice went on to further his studies at Pittsburg State University. Over the years, he worked for Piston Automotive and MAGNA. A born leader, Maurice groomed and mentored young black men to supervisory and management positions during his tenure at Johnson Controls where he worked as the Plant Manager for 30+ years. He went on to work for Ford Motor Company in Management to his retirement in 2018. He was also a numbers guy and shared wisdom with others regarding financial planning and various investments in order to be prepared when their time came to retire.

Maurice wed Raynita Miller on October 5, 1985. Together they raised to adulthood his son, Maurice Jr. They were married for 37 years through better or worse, in sickness and health, for richer or poor, until death, did they part.

Maurice was the epitome of family provider; serving not only his immediate family, but his extended family as well. He was a good son honoring his mother and father and he indeed was his brother’s keeper, protector and a voice of reason. He spent his time, talents and money ensuring that everyone around him was well taken care of. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his youth and he lived his life by the Golden Rule. His reputation is one having a good heart. Recently, Maurice recommitted his mind, body and soul to Christ and was baptized by his brother, Bruce Lang in a private setting with his family rejoicing by his side.

He was preceded in death by his brother Wardell Lang, and his father, Theo Lang, Sr. Maurice transitioned in peace from grace to glory into the presence of the Almighty on Wednesday October 12, 2022 at 8:24 AM. He’d made his peace with The Most High and with man and it was well with his eternal soul.

He leaves to treasure his memory in Light and Love: His wife, Raynita Lang, his son, Maurice Lang, Jr, his Mother, Marceline Lang, brothers Jerry Lang (Glyndia), Theo Lang, Jr. (Rose), Warren Lang(Carla), Michael Lang(Regina) and Bruce Lang(Shawn), sisters Katherine Harris (Jerry), Christlena Lockhart(Matthew), and Paula Lang and a whole host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, co-workers, dear friends and acquaintances.

Visitation will be 12PM, with services to follow at 1PM, Friday, October 21 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; private burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
