Maurice "Allen" Nay

It is with a heavy heart that we are sharing the passing of Maurice Allen Nay. He went to be with Jesus on January 15, 2025.

He is survived by his three daughters, Darcy & Scott Jones, Mary & Josh Golden, and Anna & Gabriel Tamayo; and his grandchildren: Danielle, Nathan, Nicolle, Aryah, Djeshua, Mariela, Gabriella, Jace, Abigail, and Eli; and great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Lucy, Ace, Carter, Nitis, and Izaiah: and his three remaining siblings, Cheryl & Kelly Ray, David & Tammy Nay, and D’on & Craig Baugh. We also lovingly remember his sister, Marsha Nay, who passed away last year.

Allen was born in Standardville, UT, on October 3,1949. His parents, Maurice and Velda Nay raised Allen, the eldest, alongside his four other siblings. In high school, Allen met the love of his life, Dona. He always told his girls that he saw her waiting at the bus stop at school and fell in love with her right then and there.

After graduating from high school, Allen enlisted in the Marine Corp in February of 1968. Allen and Dona were then married on October 4,1969. He served his country for ten years in the Marine Corps. He served two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged as a Gunnery Sergeant in March of 1978. After leaving the Marine Corps, Allen and Dona took their three little girls and settled in Colorado. This is where they raised the girls and were dedicated to family, church, and their community.

In 2002, while living in Kansas City, MO, Dona was diagnosed with MS. Throughout the 11 years that she battled MS, Allen was her faithful companion and caregiver. When she passed away in 2015, Allen lost the love of his life.

Allen spent the last years of his life battling several different cancers. During this time, he loved hanging out with his family, visiting his siblings in Utah, and riding his Harley with friends. These years were made richer because of the dedication and kindness of the Kansas City VA Hospital staff, who truly became a part of his community.

Allen fought hard until the end. If you met Allen, you knew he was one-of-a-kind, larger than life, and would give you the shirt off his back. He will be missed!!!
