Maurice Preston Poindexter

Maurice Preston Poindexter, 72, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on March 28, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Maurice was born November 3, 1950 to the late Eunice Coleman and Zenopher Poindexter in Kansas City, Kansas. 

He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968.  Maurice worked for United Parcel Service for many years.  Maurice was an active member of the Lincoln High School Class of 1968 in Kansas City, Missouri.  He enjoyed gardening and researching the family history.  He was proud of his Cherokee Freedmen Citizenship. 

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Fredericka Copeland and Monica Coleman; and older brother, Thomas Poindexter.  His memory will be cherished by his daughter, Dr. Milicent Triche (Terrell); grandchildren, Ty, Micah and Maya Triche; nieces and nephews, Conrad Poindexter, Shawn Copeland, Thomas Poindexter, Lashaunda Poindexter and Steve Pulliam; great nieces and nephews, Courtney Smith, Shawn Copeland Jr., Conrad Poindexter Jr., Brandon Scaife, McKinzee Copeland and McKinlee Copeland, Deion Poindexter, Kobe Poindexter; a host of cousins and many devoted lifelong friends.  Special thanks to Courtney Smith, Eric Henry and Arnold Murrell.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64138. A visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
