Donna Marilyn McAdams, 83 of Laurie, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on February 22, 2021. She was born June 19th, 1937 to Inez Edith (Anderson) Warren and Floyd (Red) Otis Warren in Kansas City, MO. Mom married the love of her life, Donald Paul McAdams on June 2, 1956. Being a mother of 5 sons kept her busy and strong in spirit. She was our biggest cheerleader. She was a loving mother. When mom started her career with United Parcel Service in October 1975, she started in the phone center. She became a trailblazer for women at UPS and shattered the “Glass Ceiling” in an era when that was rarely the occassion. During her continued success at UPS, she took on many special assignments throughout the country and in 1986 she went to Switzerland when UPS opened their new location. She was devoted to family and friends. She had a giving heart, usually unbeknownst to most. She mentored many people throughout her life professionally and personally. She had a thirst for adventure. She always had a trip in the works. Mom retired from UPS corporate in Atlanta GA to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1998. She enjoyed the tranquility of lake life when she wasn’t traveling somewhere. She loved to cook, garden and shop. She loved to be with family and friends. When needed, she could “rally the troops”. She was the matriarch of the family. Most of all, she believed in doing or having what makes your heart happy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald. She is survived by five sons, Michael (Linda), Kansas City, MO, Matthew (Barbara Jan), Columbia, MO, Mark (Betty), Sunrise Beach, MO, Mitchell, Laurie, MO – Alisha Rose-McAdams, Liberty, MO, Morgan (Cheryl), Talking Rock, GA; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

McAdams, Donna M.'s Guestbook

Yesterdays service was a loving tribute to an amazing human being. So many of my childhood memories included this wonderful family. Don and Donna were close friends of my parents and were like a second set of parents to my siblings and myself. Growing up we spent a great deal of time with the boys who, despite all the years that have passed, still hold a very special place in my heart. I hope that all the wonderful memories of your parents will help ease the pain of your loss.

Donna was one special lady. I always remember being in awe and sometimes more than a little intimidated by her. I always enjoyed being around her and the family. What a great group of people. After listening to what all her boys said at the funeral, I don't think she could have hoped for more. Matf said, "That's good. Now do better." I think Donna would have just said, "That was the Best."

I got to know Donna while working at UPS in Kansas City. I always thought of her as a hard working dedicated employee who always strived to do the right thing. In addition she had a wonderful friendly personality and a wry sense of humor. She was fun to be around. I was saddened to learn of her passing. I extend my condolences to her family and friends.

Some of our most cherished memories include Donna, Don, and the boys. Donna was the kind of a friend who was always there for you no matter the situation. We will miss her very much.
