Nicole Lynne (Marriott) McCleish, 36, of the Kansas City Northland, passed away on August 15, 2019, following a long, courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at K.U. Medical Center.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Friday, August 23, and from 9:30-10:30 am Saturday, August 24, followed by a service celebrating Nicole's life at 10:30 am, all at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Variety KC (varietykc.org) or to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (ocrfa.org).
Nicole was born March 25, 1983, in Kansas City, MO, the eldest of two daughters of Carl and Charis (Steinman) Marriott. She was a 2001 graduate of Winnetonka High School and received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and minor in Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
Nicole's first job was at HyVee in Liberty, where she met her future husband, Matthew McCleish. They were united in marriage on July 18, 2009 at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty. She later taught school at Lee A. Tolbert Community Academy in Kansas City, Liberty Oaks Elementary School in Liberty, and most recently at Prairie Point Elementary School in the Park Hill School District.
Nicole was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Eldon M. Steinman and W. Greg Marriott; and cousin, Ron Marriott, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Matt; parents, Carl and Charis; sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Jason Lavely, and their daughter Teagan who lovingly called Nicole her "Aunt ColeCole"; grandmothers, J. Ruhlene Steinman and Anna Marie Marriott; uncles, Greg Steinman and Ron Marriott; cousin, Ashley Marriott; Matt's parents, Richard and Janice McCleish; Matt's sister, Angela Sue Linard, her husband Scott, and their sons, Zachary and Tommy; as well as other relatives and many friends, including her beloved cavachon, Miller. Nicole was loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Nicole's family members wish to thank the staffs at K.U. Medical Center and K.U. Cancer Clinic, as well as Dr. Robert Pleunneke and staff, especially his nurse Kay, for the loving care Nicole received over the past four years.
