Virginia M. Mckinney

Virginia Mae McKinney, 94 of Lee’s Summit went home to the Lord on Good Friday, April 19, 2019. She was born on September 9, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri to Dorothy (Sumner) and Thomas Strawensky. She was raised with care and loving concern by her parents in Kansas City and foster parents Fred and Sophia Steffen in Shawnee, Kansas. She married Gerald L. McKinney (deceased) on August 30^th, 1951 and together raised three children.

She was a member of the Westport United Methodist Church and was a part of the United Methodist Women’s group until 2019. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit and actively supported various missions programs.   She was a longtime employee of J Wilbur Company where she made additional lasting friendships. After retirement she volunteered at Trinity Lutheran Hospital and also with the Shepherd’s Center. She enjoyed reading and the Kansas City Symphony.

She is survived by her children Eileen Smith and Jeff Gregg (husband); Thomas McKinney, his wife, Karen Stevens; Martha Wisniewski and husband George, and their three sons and five grandsons.
