Elizabeth “Betty” McQuerry was born on January 13, 1930, in Buckner, MO to Walter and Pearl (Ames) Armbruster. She graduated from Halls Memorial High School in Buckner in the Class of 1948. In 1950 she married her high school sweetheart, Ruben “R. C.” McQuerry, which was the beginning of a marriage that lasted for 68 years. Elizabeth spent over 50 years as her husband’s scheduler and bookkeeper for the McQuerry Piano Tuning business. Primarily, her life has been focused on her kids and grandkids. A true lover of little ones, she was once labeled a “professional grandmother” because of her loving and nurturing ways. She adopted all kids as her kids and delighted in shopping for all of them.
Betty passed away on July 26, 2021. She is survived by her six kids, Marianne (Bob) Truman of Raymore, MO, Cindy McQuerry of Overland Park, KS, Terry (Sandy) McQuerry of Kansas City, MO, Dianne O’Neil of Oak Grove, MO, Linda (Alan) Greer of Oak Grove, and Clay (Janel) McQuerry of Liberty, MO; 13 grandkids, 20 great-grandkids, 2 great-great grandkids, sister-in-law, Becky Leath, and a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben McQuerry, brother, Donald Armbruster and sisters, Martha Kathryn DeHoff, and LaVina McMillan, and grandson, Johnny O’Neil.
A private graveside service will be held at Buckner Hill Cemetery in Buckner, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Rebuilding Together KC, 2050 Plumbers Way, #150, Liberty, MO 64068.
