Helen Elizabeth (Treece) Merrell, 94, a longtime Liberty resident, passed away February 25, 2021, at her home with family at her side.
Helen was born January 25, 1927, in Sweet Springs, MO, the daughter of Leroy Joseph and Nellie Lee (Gregg) Treece. She was married to Raymond Merrell on Easter Sunday, April 21, 1946, in Sweet Springs, MO. They moved to Liberty in 1956. Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Ray; sisters, Rose, Mary and Mildred; and brothers, John, Joe and Francis.
Helen worked as a bookkeeper in Marshall, Hamilton, Kansas City, and most recently with Century 21 in Liberty. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Hopper (Jim) and Alan Merrell (Lee); grandchildren, Jason Ireland, Richard Merrell and Lynn Merrell; great grandchildren, Ryan, Kolby, Chase, Lexus, Ryder, Krystal and Cheyenne; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon, followed by a service celebrating Helen's life at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, March 2, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Crossroads Hospice.
