Charles D. “Charlie” Meyer, 80 years old of Independence, MO passed away on June 9, 2019 at Saint Luke’s Hospital after a fall in his home. Charlie was born on December 2, 1938 in Kansas City, MO. Charlie never met a stranger and he loved to pray for people and witness about Jesus. Because of his love of flowers, at a young age he began his own greenhouse business selling his products to several stores in the Kansas City area, most notably Katz Drug. He was quite the painter and decorator and opened Meyer Paint and Wallpaper in the mid 1970’s where he serviced many customers and made many friends. He retired in 2001 to care for his mother until she passed away at the age of 93. Charlie is survived by his sister, JoAnn Exposito of Portland, Oregon, Paul Meyer and his wife, Sandy, of Raytown, MO and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Emma Lavina (née Phelps) Meyer, brother Fred Meyer, sister Mildred Gardner, sister Dora Lee Harmon, and sister Georgie Webb. Services will be held on Saturday, June 15 with visitation 12Noon, memorial service at 1PM at Park Lawn, 8251 Hillcrest, KCMO 64138, Dennis R. Fite officiating. The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and staff at Saint Luke’s Hospital for their tender and compassionate care of Charlie.
