Jesus Meza

Jesus Meza, 85, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2019, surrounded by his family at his home.  Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm, with Rosary at 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 16, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO 64068. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am Friday, May 17, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1029 Bennington, KCMO 64126. Burial will follow at Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, MO. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Jesus was born February 5, 1934, in Laredo, TX, one of seven children of Jose and Asuncion (Vargas) Meza. He was united in marriage to Celia Ortiz on November 5, 1952.  Along with his parents, Jesus was preceded in death by a son, David Meza; grandson, DiGabriel Meza; and five siblings.  His career with the Missouri Pacific Railroad spanned 24 years until his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Celia; children, Maria Bueno (Jesse), Alfredo Meza (Kelly), Sylvia Briseno (Joe), Jesus Meza Jr. (Maria Estella), Rosa Herlinda Mendez (Roy), Maria M. Tetro and Olga Villarreal (Phillip); daughter-in-law, Graciela Meza; 22 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.  He also leaves a brother, Gilberto Meza and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
