Mary Margaret Mezzacasa, 90, born in Lexington, Missouri, went to be with her Lord and Savior August 30, 2022.
Mary graduated from Northeast Senior High School in Kansas City, Missouri. After marriage in March of 1950, she worked various jobs before her husband (the late Rev. Joseph Mezzacasa) was called into the ministry. During this season many sacrifices were made as a family in obedience to God’s calling over their lives. Mary helped support her husband and family financially by working at Gospel Publishing House as Secretary for The Revival Time Choir while Joe attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. Upon her husband’s graduation and receipt of credentials from the Assemblies of God, they moved their family back to Kansas City, Missouri, where she began serving as a Pastor’s wife, and loyally did so for over 40 years at Bethel Tabernacle.
Mary and Joe retired from ministry and settled in Willard, Missouri, for the duration of their years on earth. They continued to faithfully serve and honor the Lord by pouring into and ministering to those they held dear. The two of them found time with family and friends invaluable, and always made their relationships priority. This final season of their lives was characterized by simplicity. Mary was fond of butterflies and enjoyed watching them around the flower garden, and hummingbirds feeding were a close second as they sat on their back porch together taking in and appreciating all of God’s creation. The joy of the Lord was evident in Mary’s life. She was a living testimony to what it means to “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7), and she lived according to her favorite passage of Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Mary leaves behind a powerful legacy for Christ that will endure through the generations with eternal significance.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Brenda; sons, Gerald, Keith, and Jeff; daughters-in-law, Mary and Robin; grandchildren, Joe, Daryl, Christopher, Andrea, Crystal, Melody, Ashton, Nick, Jennie, Lauren, Gina, Stephanie, April and Austin; along with 22 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; son, Terry; son-in-law, Rick, and many loved ones.
