Joseph Mezzacasa, 94, born in Kansas City, Missouri, went to be with His Lord and Savior December 3, 2020.
Joe completed the 11th grade at Wheatland High School in Wheatland, Missouri, before enlisting and serving in the United States Army, in which during that time he became a veteran of WWII and received an honorable discharge at the end of his enlistment period. After several years of service to the United States Post Office, he answered a call to ministry and attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. Upon completion of his bachelor’s degree, he became a Minister with the Assemblies of God and faithfully served as Pastor, shepherding his congregation at Bethel Tabernacle in Kansas City, Missouri, for over 40 years.
Joe retired at the age of 90, and settled in Willard, Missouri, for the duration of his years on earth. He continued to faithfully serve and honor the Lord, and was still ministering to those he dearly loved up until the end. His life was one to emulate, as he lived to bring honor and glory to God in word and deed. Only eternity will fully tell of the impact and influence he has had on the lives of so many as he fulfilled the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind,” and “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39).
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Brenda; sons, Gerald, Keith, and Jeff; daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by many loved ones, including his eldest son, Terry.
