Michael J. O'Hare

Michael J. O’Hare, 60, of Liberty, Missouri died Monday, October 23, 2023.  Mike was born on January 3, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Robert and Donna O’Hare. Mike grew up in Liberty where he graduated from high school, then went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from William Jewell College.

On November 25, 1988 Mike married his love Shanna Moore. Despite all the hardships and challenges they endured, they persevered and shared 34 devoted years together.

For the last 29 years, Mike was a Dealer at Harrah’s North Kansas City Casino where he was given the nickname “Donkey” due to his chatter while on stick at the craps table. He enjoyed seeing and conversing with his coworkers and guests of Harrah’s. 

Mike was an avid sports fan.  He enjoyed attending the NASCAR races, Chiefs games, Cardinals and Royals games, and he was a statistician for the Kansas City Blades for a few seasons.  When he was not attending sporting events in-person, he would watch the games at home.  A Sunday afternoon cheering on his favorite teams to a “win” with his family was a perfect day to him.  

Mike was preceded in death by his father, and daughter Jessica. He is survived by his mother; wife Shanna; son Matthew; two daughters Andrea and Amy; two grandsons Wyatt and Benjamin; two sisters-in-law Terri Moore, Michele Moore and her husband Norm Boos; nephew Jared Moore; niece Hannah Titsworth and her husband William; several great nieces and nephews; along with many cousins including Kris Foster who was like a brother to Mike growing up.

Mike’s courage and strength throughout the last five years is revered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 4 at Harrah’s North Kansas City Casino in the Laurel Lounge from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
