Mila Jean Blurton (August 4, 1958-January 19, 2024)

Mila Jean Blurton, 65, of Parkville, MO passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 19, 2024.

Mila was born North Kansas City, MO in 1958 to Bonnie Belle (Adams) Blurton and Lloyd Neal Blurton, who provided an idyllic childhood to Mila and older brother, Kenn, in the Wilshire neighborhood, a place filled with the finest friends anyone could ever want. Mila attended Liberty High School before studying in St. Joseph, MO, then moving to Dallas, TX for her legal profession. Mila greatly enjoyed her time in Dallas, making many lifelong friendships and acquiring countless memories and stories that she would share with friends and family for years to come. Mila moved back to the Kansas City area and pursued a very successful career in real estate with Reece and Nichols. She loved helping people find their homes, especially their first home. Mila had a great eye for potential in homes and enjoyed sharing her love of old houses with her friends online.

Everyone who knew Mila knew she had a big soft spot for animals. Throughout her life, she had many cats, dogs, and horses. Most recently, she rescued her horse, Raven, from slaughter and enjoyed several years with her. She loved her “Brownie Brown Houndie Hound,” Delaney, who she raised from a puppy into her senior years. Mila was also involved in several animal rescue organizations and was passionate about the welfare of all animals.

Mila’s friendships were very important to her and she held all of her friends close to her heart. From traveling near and far hunting for unique antiquing finds, to trying out all of the new local restaurants, to watching movies, to reading and watching true crime, she and her friends were together through it all.

Most of all, Mila will always be remembered for her unwavering kindness, insightfulness, healing spirit and the way that she was always joyfully willing to help anyone. When recalling memories of Mila, nearly everyone she knew said “she was so sweet and kind” — what a legacy to leave. We couldn’t have asked for a better sister, aunt, and friend. A departure too soon, her loss leaves a void for the many who loved her. We will miss Mila every day and her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

Mila is survived by her brother, Kenn Blurton, and niece, Jillian (Blurton) Michaelis (Drew). She is preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie Blurton and Lloyd Blurton, her sister-in-law, Michelle Lahey, and niece Baby Bonnie.
