Oliver E. Miller

October 19, 1934 — December 9, 2021

Oliver E. Miller was born on October 19, 1934 in Vernon County, Missouri to Edith Fritts Miller and Lee Roy Miller. Oliver passed peacefully, at the age of 87 in Belton, Missouri after battling Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He lived the majority of his life in the Kansas City area. Oliver and, the love of his life, Marcia Miller, enjoyed 41 years together.

Known for his work ethic and his artistic expertise, Oliver was a multi-talented man dedicated to faith, family, country and career. At age eighteen, he began working at Siegrist Engraving Company where he had many roles including lead engraver and, ultimately, engraving personnel manager of operations. During six of those years, Oliver served in the U.S. Army Reserves. In addition, he would fill the last few hours of a typical day with plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other tasks as he renovated many investment projects throughout his life. Oliver retired from Siegrist Engraving Company at the “young” age of eighty.

With a subtle wit and unassuming communication style, Oliver captivated audiences when delivering a thoughtful prayer or a sarcastic quip. He was a man of many talents who was humble, generous and would always reach out to include others in conversation. He brought out the best in those who were blessed to be within his sphere of influence. He will be deeply missed by those who survive him.

He is survived by the love of his life, Marcia Miller of Belton, Missouri; in addition to the following members who all reside in Florida: His daughter Sandra Balfour, and husband, Tom, grandson, Brian (Kaley) Balfour, and great grandchildren Presley and Hayden; grandson, Kevin (Rachel) Balfour and great grandchildren Callahan and Archer; his daughter Lorrissa Kinder and husband, Mike, grandchildren, Joshua, Claire and Nathan. Also included are the following siblings: Grace (Leo) Hobbs, of Kansas City, Missouri; Kathy (Jack) Myers of Forney, Texas and Ken (Sharon) Miller of Nixa, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy Miller and Edith Fritts Miller and two sisters, Annabelle Arrasmith of Rich Hill, Missouri and Sharon Tracy of Neosho, Missouri.
