Theresa M. Mitchell

Theresa Mitchell, age 70, passed away at her home on February 5, 2020 due to pancreatic cancer. She was born September 8, 1949 to Richard Payne and Elsie Seely. She married the love of her life, Leonard Mitchell, on her 23rd birthday in 1972. They were truly devoted to each other. Leonard (Lee) proceeded her in death in May of 2013.

Theresa loved to help people and she saw the good in everyone. She spent many hours researching the family genealogy and telling stories about her ancestors. Theresa also enjoyed watching home improvement and antiques shows because she believed everything had value and even something old and broken could be redeemed to its original, valuable state.

Theresa was not blessed with grandchildren, but frequently borrowed those of her friends and family. She worked at several day care centers and enjoyed teaching children to knit and crochet. Theresa loved her cat, Olaf, even though he bit her frequently.

Theresa lives on in her sisters Virginia Brocious, Alesia Wheeler, and Elaine Payne; her daughter, Angela Mitchell and her son and daughter-in-law, Jarrod and Kendra Mitchell; her nephews and nieces, Brian Payne, Samantha Kessler, Andrea Ridgeway, James Brocious, Beverly Brocious, Deanna Brocious, Stephanie Wheeler, Amanda Wheeler, Jennifer Sumstine, Jessica Thomas and Lindsey Nilsson. Theresa was proceeded in death by her brother, Bill Payne, and sisters June Ridgeway and Valorie Lemley.

Theresa had strong faith in God and is blessed to be reunited with her family and beloved husband, Lee, in heaven.

Visitation will be 6-8PM, Friday, February 7 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd.  Memorial services will be 11AM, Saturday, February 8 at Peace Lutheran Church, 8240 Blue Ridge; private entombment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
