Loretta Monnig (Marek) passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018, at the age of 88.

The eldest of 4 siblings, Loretta was born in Hamden, Missouri to parents Tom and Elizabeth (Nanneman) Marek.  Loretta is preceded in death by her husband Fredrick J. “Jim” Monnig; son Gary Monnig; grandson Nicholas Monnig; sister Alice Stephens (Marek), and brother Andrew Marek. She is survived by daughters Susan Xouris (Jeff); Karen Crane (Monnig); daughter-in-law Kathi Monnig; her sister Florence Ewigman (Marek), and brother Ernst Marek. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Greg and Gary James Monnig; Danny Crane; Justin (Stephanie) Shilling and Matthew Shilling; Kaitlin and Emily Xouris; and twenty great-grandchildren.

Loretta was a loving mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother. She was a long-time employee of the Hickman Mills School District and active member of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church. She loved gardening, cooking, sewing and spending time with family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, 8941 James A. Reed Road, Kansas City, MO. Entombment in the Holy Family Mausoleum at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Regis Church.
