Morris Eugene “Gene” Feagle was born on September 7th 1949 in Alachua County, Florida but spent the majority of his childhood in Kearney, Missouri. He was the son of Dora May Gammill and stepson of Elijah “Lige” Gammill. As a student, Gene attended the local school district and would graduate from Kearney High School before joining the military. He went on to serve in the Vietnam War.
After returning from the military, Gene received a certificate from ITT Technical Institute that allowed him to find work as an electronics technician. One employment opportunity led to him working alongside a hospital volunteer named Alberta, who would become his future wife and bring him to Kansas City, Missouri. In 1986, they had a son, Andrew. Gene would continue as an electronics technician for the remainder of his career, moving to Dictation Systems and finally to Fike Corporation, where he would remain until his retirement. He would spend his post-retirement life at the family’s house in Kansas City until a cancer diagnosis in January 2024 led to his passing on the 27th of that month. He was proceeded in death by his wife Alberta and sister-in-law Roberta; he is survived by his son, Andrew.
Throughout his life, Gene had a passion for fishing – particularly for bass. He would share this passion with his family and partake in annual family fishing tournaments with them. After his marriage to Alberta, he and his father-in-law, Ernest, would go hunting together. Gene also had an on-and-off interest in reading, particularly science fiction and fantasy. Interest in this genre would also carry over into movies, with a fondness for both Star Trek and Star Wars, as well as Marvel Superheros. A passion for electronics would also carry over into his hobbies, leading him build several computers and experiment with his own ideas.
