Yewell A. Moyer

Yewell Albert Moyer, 92, of Kearney, MO, entered his Heavenly Home on April 2, 2021. He passed away peacefully with loved ones at his side.

Yewell was born January 3, 1929, in Holcomb, MO, the eighth of eleven children of Albert and Nellie (Smith) Moyer. He served as a Medic in the US Army, stationed at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, AR, receiving honorable discharge in 1948. Yewell was united in marriage to Lila Marie Ketchum on June 18, 1949 in Piggot, AR and they were blessed with two children, Brenda and Larry.

Yewell worked in the shoe industry before going to work for the Federal Government for 20 years. Following retirement, Yewell and Lila moved to the Table Rock Lake area where he served as a Deacon at Roaring River Baptist Church in Eagle Rock, MO. They moved to Kearney in 2001, where Yewell served as a Deacon at Tryst Falls Baptist Church. They currently attended First Baptist Church of Kearney.

Along with his parents, Yewell was preceded in death by nine siblings and a grandson, Jacob Moyer. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Lila; children, Brenda Cobb (Lee) and Larry Moyer (Cheri); grandchildren, Belinda Moore (John) Richard Cobb (Michelle), Lynette Fletcher (Ken) and Jessica Moyer; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Floyd Moyer (Wilma); and brother Virgil's wife, Lillian Moyer; as well as countless nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2:00 pm Saturday, April 10, at the First Baptist Church of Kearney, 303 South Grove Street, Kearney, MO. A service celebrating Yewell's life will follow at 2:00. Masks are required. Private family committal services will be at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the City Union Mission.
