Myrtle Myrle Halley, aged 91, of Pleasant Valley, Missouri, was called home to the Lord on November 22, 2024, at 3:31 PM, surrounded by the love of her family.
Myrtle was born on October 24, 1933, in La Grande, Oregon, at her family home on 1911 Russell Street. During her early years in Oregon, she worked hard, shocking grass in the fields—a testament to her resilience and strong work ethic. She carried these values with her throughout her life. In 1975, Myrtle and her husband, Richard Halley, founded Northland Ready Mix in Pleasant Valley, Missouri. Together, they built the business into a cornerstone of the community, and over the years, all of their family members worked there, carrying forward the legacy of hard work and dedication. Myrtle was an absolute light in this dark world, making everybody feel like somebody. Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, devotion to her family, and warm presence left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her three children, Roxane Phillips (husband Bob, deceased), Carey Halley, and Susan Thomas; six grandchildren, Chris Halley (wife,Tasha), Amy Halley, Ashley Halley Scott, Justin Phillips, Jared Phillips (wife, Rachel), and Derek Thomas; five great-grandchildren, Ayden Scott, Austin Scott, Aryia Vanderford, Madilyn Halley, and McKayla Halley; and her sisters, Frieda Beach (husband Charles, deceased), Roxa Isitt (husband David, deceased), Joyce Walker (husband Michael), and Marcheta Crook. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Halley; her brothers, John DeFries (wife Nachiko, deceased), Charles DeFries (wife Barbara, deceased), and Dilbert DeFries; and her sisters, Helen Kenneda (husband James, deceased), Nadine Wood (husband Denver, deceased), Louis Henderson (husband Howard, deceased), Patricia Sansburn (husband Robert, deceased), Donna Weber (husband Don, deceased), Julia Gilbert (husband Faye, deceased), Reba Moore (husband George, deceased), Wanda Allison, and Barbara Ackerman (husband Leonard, deceased).
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 5-7 PM at Park Lawn Northland Chapel (1640 N. MO. Hwy 291, Liberty, MO 64068).
