Nancy Claire Holler, 96, of Kansas City, Missouri, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away in the early morning on April 7, 2025.
She was born November 29, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Helen and Robert Sanders. Nancy attended Bishop Hogan High School and graduated in 1946. She performed opera in the Kansas City Philharmonic and Kansas City Light Opera while she attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Nancy also volunteered for the March of Dimes by going door-to-door while raising three young children. For more than 20 years, she worked for the Jones Store in Kansas City, Missouri, and Prairie Village, Kansas, which later became Macy’s.
At nine months pregnant and with daughters aged two and four, Nancy became a widow at the young age of 25 when her husband, Harry, died of polio. Because of Harry’s service in the U.S. Navy, Nancy was awarded Veterans Affairs and Social Security funds to provide for her three children after his death. She remarried in 1959, to Joseph Holler.
Nancy was known for her beautiful voice, even singing a week before she passed. Her favorite pastime was enjoying the company of her loved ones and caring for her beloved dogs over the years. She and Joseph were huge Hogan High School sports supporters and attended most football and basketball games between 1964 and 1970.
A viewing will take place on April 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with a 10:30 AM Mass to follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 815 E. Meyer Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64131. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Nancy’s favorite charity, Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, Missouri.
