Nancy Ann (Endicott) Long, 77, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away to her heavenly home on May 19, 2024, with her family by her side.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother George, who died only seven days earlier. She was born on June 22, 1946, to Cecil "Buster" and Josie "Jo" Endicott on their farm in Clay County, Missouri. Nancy grew up on the farm, so she was no stranger to hard work. She attended a one-room schoolhouse close to home through 8th grade, where much of her time was spent helping other students understand the material. Nancy excelled in Liberty High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated in the spring of 1964, and in the fall she entered William Jewell College. 'Much to the surprise of all concerned, her beau of several years proposed that she accompany him to Air Force pilot training as his wife. On February 13, 1966, she was united in marriage to Lewis R. Long at the First Presbyterian Church of Liberty, MO. To this marriage, two children were born 10 years apart: Jason C. Long and Jessica C. Long, who now have 5 children themselves. Nancy distinguished herself as an officer's wife by being the youngest ever to be given the responsibility of planning, organizing, and executing Officer's Wives Club's teas and luncheons. Her organizational skills and creativity served her well in her passionate involvement with PTAs, Christian Women's Clubs, and her children's celebrations.
A private family memorial will be held June 15, 2024.
