- Obituary -

On Sunday, August 8, 2021 Lisa Carolyn Obioha Walls, devoted wife and mother, was called home and healed in heaven at the age of 55. Lisa, a demure, fun loving fashionista, was born on June 22, 1966 in Kansas City, MO to Barbara and Robert Herron, Sr. who lovingly called her ‘Ladybug’. At an early age, she was baptized at Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the Junior Choir and served in every way she could. She received her high school diploma from Paseo High School and attained a Certified Nursing Assistant certification that enabled her to serve in healthcare for over a decade. She was overjoyed in her first marriage when she welcomed the birth of her only child Cierra Chuly (Obioha) Boyd, and on April 7, 2001, she married Ellis Ray Walls who loved her for over 20 years and helped raise her daughter Cierra since the age of 10.

Lisa strongly valued community and was a good, loyal friend. She loved her family, friends and church. She had immense joy whenever she could talk to her best friend Bridgechette, and looked forward to her daily talks with her niece Robin, regular check-ins with her nephews, and three times per day facetime calls to her one-year old granddaughter Chiamara (her greatest gift) – who was learning to affectionately call her “Amore,” which means ‘love’ in Italian. She was known for being selfless and authentic. She was always true to herself and spoke the truth no matter what, telling it like it is and never holding back.

Lisa also lived a life of servitude and had a passion for giving back. She volunteered at a domestic violence shelter for many years – something she said brought her fulfillment and honor. She was the ultimate bookworm as well, reading hundreds of novels, and her favorite – biographies and autobiographies. She was also a devout Christian and known for her strength and faith throughout all health challenges she encountered, studying The Word daily. When she wasn’t deep into scripture or a new book, or investing in others, she enjoyed shoe and clothes shopping. She owned countless pairs of shoes and was a trend-setter, always lighting up the room with her fashion – never looking like anything of what she was going through. Lisa had a creative mind and also loved the arts. Her hobbies included home interior design, baking and she relished attending live plays, musicals and concerts at her favorite venue, Starlight Theater. She also cherished time with her husband Ellis, going on outings and dates to the movie theater, the City Market and local restaurants. And when she traveled, Atlanta was her go-to destination where she spent time with her beloved daughter, never missing a milestone; settling into a new job, marriage to her son-in-love Tommy, the birth of her granddaughter and her granddaughter’s first birthday on July 3, 2021.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Robert. She is survived by her husband Ellis, her daughter Cierra (Tommy), her granddaughter Chiamara, her mother Barbara, sister Jacqueline (Fred), brothers Johnny (Diane) and Robert Jr., and niece Robin (Delvin) and several other cousins, nieces and nephews.
