Sharon Ocker

Sharon Lee Surby Ocker, 74, of Liberty, MO, passed away December 16, 2022, at Liberty Hospital.

Sharon was born May 16, 1948, in the Grogan Community of Texas County, Missouri. She was the eldest of two daughters of Delmar and Ruby Grogan Surby, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Robert Ocker on August 15, 1969, in Macks Creek, MO.

Sharon graduated from Cabool High School in Cabool, MO with the Class of 1966. She received her degree from Southwest Baptist University in 1969 and began her teaching career until she retired from Orrick Elementary School in 2003. After retirement, Sharon continued to be involved in education, working at Sylvan Learning Center and most recently at Primrose School. She loved the little ones.

Sharon was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and very involved in her Sunday School class.

Sharon was a wonderful cook and loved working outside with her beautiful flowers. She could create beautiful wreaths and had one for every month of the year. She had a giving heart and desired to be an organ donor at death.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Robert, of the home; daughter, Charity Hoegler (P.J.) of Parkville, MO; son, Justin Ocker, of the home; grandson, Jaron Hoegler of Parkville, MO; granddaughter, Kinsi Hoegler of Parkville, MO; sister, Karon Surby of Liberty, MO; as well as other family members and friends.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service celebrating Sharon’s life at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1600 North State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Car Ministry.

Service Information:

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service celebrating Sharon’s life at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1600 North State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.
