Ora L. Henderson

January 9, 1943 — April 1, 2023

Lee's Summit

Ora Lee Henderson was the first sibling born on January 9,1943, to the union of George Lee Henderson and Lonnie Mae Nolen Henderson in Sunflower County, Mississippi.  Her parents George and Lonnie Henderson and brother Alvan Henderson preceded her death.  Ora Lee departed this life on Saturday April 1, 2023 at Seasons Memory Care surrounded by her family.

At an early Age, Ora Lee affectionately known as “Cuda” by her sister Daisy Mae, was raised in Sunflower County and she graduated from Gentry High School.  In 1960, Ora moved to Kansas City, Missouri with her beloved uncle Watson and Aunt Willie Mae.  In 1961, sweet beautiful Ora Lee married James Triplett in Kansas City, Missouri.  To this union, the fabulous five were born, James Jr., Gerald, Eric, Russell and Christopher.  She was truly blessed with her loving sons.

Ora Lee accepted Christ at an early age in life.  She was a faithful member of churches throughout the Greater Kansas City Area and served in her church in major roles and responsibilities.  She was a member of the choir and hospitality team for many years at     Kansas City Baptist Temple now known as Graceway Evangelical Church until her illness no longer permitted her to attend.  This never stopped Ora from attending church daily in her apartment.  She watched various Christian movies on television and of her favorite musical artists, The William’s Brothers. She would purchase DVD’s and would invite her friends over to her apartment for a Holy Party.  Her apartment was decorated in Bible verses written on the walls in her perfect penmanship.

Ora Lee spent countless hours making her family pictures into posters which is now a precious gift to her family.  Throughout the years, Ora Lee enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, phenomenal cooking, traveling abroad, and was the dream maker for helping many people by opening her home to others, gifting many with treasures of being able to start a new life in Kansas City.  Her family just by an out of the blue experience, discovered that she was an incognito elegant rapper about 4 years ago, and as we always knew, the Chiefs number one fan.

Ora Lee leaves to cherish her memories:  Five Loving Sons: James Triplett Jr. (Margaret), Gerald Triplett (Teresa), Eric Triplett (Paula) Russell and Christopher Triplett.  Eleven Siblings: Daisy, George, Shirley, Bonnie, Charles, Darlene, Richard, Diane, Mary Jane, Larry and Michael, her best friend until the end and sister in-law Beverly Henderson.  Seven Grandchildren:  Mieisha, Krystal, Jada, Christian, Jadan, Eric Jr. and Christopher Jr.  One Great Grandson: Jhai., many nieces and nephews and the endearing loving family at Seasons Memory Care.

A hand for the Lord that she was able to love on each of us.
