Edward L. “Ed” Overbay

August 14, 1956 – May 4, 2019

Edward “Ed” Overbay, age 62, of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully at John Knox Village Hospice on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Ed was born on August 14, 1956 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to Talmadge Overbay and Ruby (Hash) Overbay.  Ed was a 1974 graduate of Raytown High School and worked for the City of Independence for the past 12 years.  Ed retired in 2017 and was able to enjoy his favorite hobbies of fishing and playing his guitars.  Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his son Eric. He is survived by his beautiful daughter, Nicole, Independence, MO, and son Einn, Gulfport, MS. Ed also leaves his siblings, Pat Overbay (Havre de Grace, MD), Debbie Knight (Spring Lake, NJ), Barbara (Mike) Fuller (Shawnee, KS), Jerry (Ruth) Overbay(Havre de Grace, MD), Dennis Overbay (Raytown, MO), and many nieces and nephews.Ed will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His crazy sense of humor always kept us laughing. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019, at 6:00 pm, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest, KC, MO 64138.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to John Knox Village Hospice, 1001 NW Chipman Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081.
