Phyllis Garcia

Phyllis Coleta Garcia, 89, of Independence, Missouri, passed away July 26, 2023 at her home.  Phyllis was born March 6, 1934, in Ottawa, Kansas to Eutimio Barron and Josefa Tores, the ninth of eleven children.  She was united in marriage on February 27, 1960 to Rene Garcia.  Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Rene Garcia Jr., Rose Garcia, Cecilia Sherman, and husband Bryan; grandchildren Lindsey Kramer, husband David, Will Sherman, wife Amanda, and Megan Sherman. Great-granddaughters, Maya Kramer, Brynlee and Lyla Sherman.  Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Saint Mark Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Road, Independence, Missouri; visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m.; interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to Saint Luke’s Hospice House, 3516 Summit St, Kansas City, Missouri 64111.
