Larry Pierce, 80, of Raytown, MO, passed peacefully on July 12, 2022 at Lakewood Care Center. He was born on September 26, 1941 in Kansass City, MO to Henry and Mary Bess Pierce. Larry attended Raytown High School, Kansas City Technical Institute and the Kansas City Art Institute. He served 6 years in the Air Force Reserve. After working for 2 years at AT&T he joined the family business of H.M. Pierce Upholstering in 1967. Larry married JoAnn Ligon in 1969. Larry designed and built custom furniture for many loyal clients throughout KC. Together they enjoyed participating in the annual Designer Show House. Their proudest moments included being featured in Architectural Digest on 3 occasions. In their spare time they enjoyed spending weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks, traveling and bowling with friends on Friday nights. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Allen and Ruby Ligon, wife JoAnn, and daughter Jacqueline. Larry is survived by daughter Debbi (Eric Mitchell), son Cal and grandchildren, John (Jen), Kelsi, Justin, Madeline and John Michael. The family would like to thank the aides, therapists and nurses at Lakewood Care Center. We would also like to thank all of his resident “neighbors” for their kindness and prayers. There was a private family service and burial at Platte City Cemetery.
