Rose Anne Pifer

January 25, 1929 — November 2, 2020

Anne Pifer, age 91, passed away on November 2, 2020. Anne was born on January 25, 1929, on a farm in Brookfield, Missouri, the youngest of 8 children of Charles and Edna Burch. When she was a little girl, her family lost the farm during the Great Depression and moved to Kansas City.

In 1948, Anne married Donald R. Pifer, and together they raised five children on the East Side of K.C.Mo. During those years, she spent most of her time cooking, baking, cleaning, sewing, teaching, nursing, disciplining, helping with homework, and involved in the PTA. She worked tirelessly, sacrificed much, and always put her family first.

After Don retired, they moved to Independence. Together they enjoyed going to sales and spending time at their second home at Lake of the Ozarks. But mostly Anne enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with her two grandsons.

Anne was a beautiful and talented woman. She played piano by ear from the age of four and often entertained family and friends.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, all of her siblings, and an infant grandchild, Laura Stivers. She is survived by her children, Linda (& Henry) Stivers, Janet (& Robert) Welch, Carol Pifer, Don (& Becky) Pifer, Jr., and Susan Pifer; her grandchildren, Jacob and Dylan Pifer; and several nieces and nephews.

In her last years, Anne faced serious mental and physical decline. But she never lost her personality, wit, and amazing talent for playing the piano. The family would like to thank the staffs of Villages of Jackson Creek Memory Care and John Knox Village Care Center for the loving care they provided during those difficult years.

There was never a more devoted mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
