Marcella J. Pollard

Marcella Jean Williams Pollard, 96, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2022.

Marcella Jean Williams Pollard was born to Ralph and Mary Williams on October 3, 1925. She was raised on a farm in Turney, MO with her three siblings. She loved reading and practiced with her older brother and sister, so she was allowed to skip first grade. She graduated from Lathrop High School in 1942,at the age of 16, as valedictorian of her class. She lived with her older sister and worked in Kansas City after high school. She married J.C. Pollard on Oct. 14, 1945 after he returned from a tour with the Navy. They made their first home in Kansas City, MO, then moved to Gladstone, MO and later to an acreage in Parkville, MO. She and J.C. were charter members of Fairview Christian Church. She worked hard as a stay at home mom, as a bookkeeper for Warwick Paper Company and Floor Décor. After retiring from both those jobs she worked as a door greeter for Kmart and did product demonstrations in area stores. She remained a faithful member of Fairview Christian Church serving in many capacities, as a Deacon, an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, a CWF member, and served on many committees After the death of J.C. in 1967, she finished raising her children, then became a foster parent, a CASA worker, and Food Pantry associate for MLM ministries. She retired from MLM ministries at 90 years old.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two siblings Thomas Williams, Lucille Williams Golden and one granddaughter, Julie Ann Pollard. She is survived by three children Gary Pollard (Mary Ann), Judy Copeland (Bob), and Delores Madget (Gary), one sister Naomi Tate, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren,and 2 great great grandchildren.

She leaves a legacy of faith, hard work, service and honesty which her family seeks to honor by following her example.

Services will be at Fairview Christian Church, Gladstone, Missouri, August 30th. Visitation 10:00. Celebration of Life 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Fairview Christian Church.
