Donna Leanne Pritchett passed away at the age of 57 due to complications from SARS-CoV-2 at Liberty Hospital on July 17th, 2021. Leanne was a devoted single mother, daughter, sister, friend, educator of special needs children, and business owner with her two daughters. Her loss will be felt deeply not only by her family, friends, and children, but by the Liberty, Missouri community.
Leanne grew up in Kansas City and was a graduate of Raytown South High School in 1982. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Truman State in 1986; and her Masters Degree in Special Education and Learning Disabilities at UMKC in 1997.
Leanne was wholeheartedly committed to the development and well-being of the students she taught and mentored over the years. She began her career as an elementary teacher in the Raytown School District. She then moved to the Liberty School District where she taught as a one-on-one para for special needs students for 4 years. Finally, she moved to Franklin Elementary where she was the Special Education Resource Teacher for 13 years.
Leanne was also a small business owner with her two beloved daughters. Together, with their passion for the arts and crafts, they created a variety of artisanal goods out of repurposed Mexican blankets. She supported her daughters love of creating, traveling to craft shows, creating costumes and headpieces for a family dance company, running the business out of their home.
Leanne was married to Don Pritchett from June 19, 1992 to 2015. Together they welcomed their two daughters Hannah in 1995 and Josie in 1998. Leanne adored her daughters and loved watching them grow into young women to discover and pursue their purposes in life, and was thrilled that they shared a love for creating beautiful handcrafted goods.
In addition to Hannah and Josie, Leanne leaves behind her father, Andy Hester of Raytown, MO; sister, Suzan Vanderbol of Joplin, MO; brother, David Hester, of Raytown, sister, Andrea EuDaly, of Kansas City; as well as brother in laws Lin Vanderbol and Jay EuDaly, sister-in law Tina Hester, and many nieces and nephews. She was also loved by her in-laws, the Pritchett family, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, colleagues, and students.
