Edgar R. “Bud” Quinn

Edgar Reynolds "Bud" Quinn, 81, of Kearney, MO, died Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Liberty Hospital. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born February 28, 1938, in Lathrop, MO, to Charles Robert and Clara Belle (Dennis) Quinn. Bud was a 1955 graduate of Kearney High School. On September 17, 1966, Bud was united in marriage to Frances McCullough.

Bud's career included Ritter Grain as a young man, Liberty Police Department for five years, Manager of Crown Center Security for eight years, and 31 years with the Clay County Sheriff's Department, where he retired in February, 2000. Following retirement, Bud enjoyed living at the Lake of the Ozarks for a short time. He spent most of his life pursuing traditional country music as a singer and guitar player, often including his family and friends. Bud was a member of the First Christian Church of Kearney.

Along with his parents, Bud was preceded in death by sisters, Lillian, Dorothy and Mildred; brothers, Donald Ray and Robert Eugene "Bob"; his son, Curtis Dale; as well as many fraternal friends. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Fran; brother, Charles Shearer; sons, Charles Allen Quinn and Jon David Quinn (Shari); daughter-in-law (Curtis' widow), Tes Quinn; grandchildren, Blake, Bryan, Kyle and Megan; six great grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by a service celebrating Bud's life at 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 19, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty. Burial will follow in Glenridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 West 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208, or to the First Christian Church of Kearney, 2151 South Jefferson Street, Kearney, MO 64060.

Service Information:

Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by a service celebrating Bud’s life at 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 19, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty. Burial will follow in Glenridge Cemetery.
