James D. Redus

James D. Redus, 80, of the Kansas City Northland, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2022.

Jim was born March 6, 1942, in Kingsville, TX. He grew up the eldest of seven children in Kingsville and graduated from Kaufer High School in Rivera, TX. Jim later received a Bachelor's degree from Ambassador College in Pasadena, CA. At Ambassador, Jim met his future bride, Karen Lee Johnson, and they were united in marriage on June 1, 1965, in Pasadena. They were blessed with three children.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Lois (Blackerby) Cooper; father, Alvin Redus; and brother, Billy Redus.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Karen; children, Stephen Redus (Terri) of Longmont, CO, Jim Redus (Stacy) of Olathe, KS, and Rebecca Hanna (Scott) of Kansas City, MO; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He also leaves his siblings, Stanley Redus, Clint Redus, Beverly Hamilton, Brenda Hansen and Michael Redus; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, including those who knew him at KB0DKK on his Amateur Radio! Along with Amateur Radio, Jim had a passion for genealogy and his family's history.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 27, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Children's Mercy Hospital.
