Bruce E. Reid, age 68, passed into the arms of Jesus on September 9, 2019.
Bruce was born August 16, 1951, in Conway, Arkansas, to Archie W. Reid and Mary Ella Fuller. Bruce accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. He was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and attended Manual High School Class of 1969.
Bruce became a member of Southgate 101 Lodge FAM PHA March 6, 1977. Bruce gained employment by BNSF Railroad in September 1970 until his retirement in 2005 after 35 years.
He met and married his high school sweetheart; the love of his life, Camelia Yvonne Goss. To this union, two children were born: LaKeisha Y. Reid and Bruce E. Reid, Jr. Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law and friend. He always had a smile on his face. God knows the deep love he had for his family. God was always first in his life, then his family.
Bruce loved to read. He was a brilliant man of great wisdom, knowledge, faith and understanding. His dad, Archie W. Reid, instilled those qualities. He was a tremendous storyteller, often recalling his past experiences in order to try and help others. He was a man that family, friends and even strangers saw as a resource because of his knowledge and character. Everyone would always say, “Call Bruce and ask him! He will have your answer.”
Bruce’s love for the sport of boxing began in his teenage years. He would attend boxing events with his father-in-law, brother-in-law and his friends back in the 80’s and 90’s. Then when his son got older they both became aficionados traveling together to boxing events. Bruce saved every newspaper clipping of all the boxing legends. His notebook is one for the archives!
He also enjoyed detailing his automobile and listening to music.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; brothers: Ronald J. Reid, Myron Reid; and his nephew, Ron Dale Reid.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 48 years, Camelia (Goss) Reid; his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Jr. and Jennifer Reid; daughter, LaKeisha Reid; grandson, JuWan Moore; granddaughters: Alyssa, and Madison; and great granddaughter, Aniyah; brother; Paul Reid of Conway AR; sisters and their spouses: Carolyn and Alfred Hoskins, of Conway, AR, Mary and Steve Halliburton, of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Pamela Fuller of Maumelle, AR, and Monica and Columbus Harper of Mayflower, AR (Special love from sister one to three); mother-in-law, Barbara Scott of Kansas City, MO; brothers-in-law: John and Iris Goss, of Missouri City, TX, James Scott, of Kansas City, MO, Jeffrey Scott, of Kansas City, MO, Charles Scott, of Kansas City, MO, Jerome and Monica Scott, of Kansas City, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many additional loving relatives and friends including his BNSF Railroad work family, and all of his fantastic neighbors.
