Richard “Rick” Harrison Scarborough, Jr., age 71, died unexpectedly on August 5th, 2024 at North Kansas City Hospital surrounded by family.
He was loved by so many. Rick was born on November, 2nd, 1952 in Independence, Missouri to Richard and Sarah Scarborough. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1970. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army, rising to the ranks of Staff Sergeant, before being honorable discharged. While in the Army he obtained his associate’s degree in Law Enforcement. He had a career in law enforcement with Liberty Police Department, and later with the State of Missouri. At the time of his passing, Rick was also an active Alderman for the City of Pleasant Valley and served as President of the board.
Rick married the love of his life, Debra Scarborough, on September 29th, 2012 blending families of 6 children, and 11 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, his brother Ed, his 3 children Richelle, Brandon, and Brittney and his 3 step children Stephanie (Nate), Cassie (Michele) and Victor (Courtney), and his 11 grandchildren Ellie, Logan, Jordan, Ethan, Jenna, Dylan, Henley, Lyla, Wyatt, Victor, and Amelia. He was generous, loved his family, and loved to make others laugh. He also enjoyed the Harley Davidson lifestyle, something he shared in with his 2 brothers, Gibson and Ed. He was also a sports enthusiast, coaching baseball for most of his life as well as umpiring.
Funeral Services will be held at Park Lawn Northland Chapel at 1640 N. State Route 291, Liberty Missouri 11:00am Friday, August 16th, 2024. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am prior to the service. Friends are invited to join Rick's family as the Warrior Watch Riders escort him to Glenridge Cemetery at B Highway and Shepherd Road, Liberty Missouri 64068 where there will be military honors . In Lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions be given to: Be Free KC, 4330 Rockhill Rd., Kansas City, MO 64110
After the conclusion of the interment, people are welcome to gather at Pleasant Valley Civic center for food and fellowship at 6805 Sobbie Rd. Pleasant Valley, Mo 64068. All are welcome.
